A vehicle stolen from Grayson County, KY was located and an arrest made by McCreary County Sheriff (MCS) David Sampson and MC Deputies at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (9-17-23) morning.
While on patrol, McCreary County Deputy Sheriff Alex Jones noticed a vehicle with a loud exhaust. The vehicle pulled in at the Speedco in Pine Knot. Recognizing the operator, 58-year-old Thomas E. Wilson of Pine Knot, Deputy Jones discovered, via local dispatch and Kentucky State Police, that the vehicle was stolen. Jones also confirmed Wilson’s operator’s license was suspended.
Reportedly, Wilson said he had possession of the vehicle because it had been pawned by another individual. Wilson denied having any knowledge that the vehicle had been reported as stolen.
Additionally, Deputy Jones located a glass pipe with residue inside of it and a syringe with the needle broken off containing a clear liquid substance. Using a field test kit for fentanyl, the substance tested with a positive indicator for containing fentanyl.
Wilson was arrested and charged with: (1) Receiving Stolen Property $1,000 < $10,000 (2) Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator’s License (3) Failure to Wear Seat Belt (4) Inadequate Silencer (Muffler) (5) Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Ins./Sec, 1st Offense (6) Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives (7) Drug Paraphernalia-Buy/Possession.
Wilson was transported and lodged at the Knox County Detention Center.
McCreary County Deputy Sheriff Larry Lewis assisted Sampson and Jones with the arrest.
