Bill Taylor elected as Magistrate/District 2

Bill Taylor was sworn in as District 2 Magistrate prior to the November Fiscal Court meeting.
With only one local race up for grabs in last Tuesday’s (11-7-23) General Election, voter turn-out was light. Republican Bill Taylor prevailed in the local race for McCreary County Magistrate/District 2, netting 625 votes. His opponents, Democrat Gale Hines and Independent Tony Hansford tallied 118 and 46 votes, respectively.
Statewide, Republican candidates were elected in all state contests except in the race for Governor/Lieutenant Governor. Democratic incumbent team Andy Beshear/Jacqueline Coleman were re-elected, defeating Republican gubernatorial candidate, Daniel Cameron.
Concurring with voters statewide, the majority of McCreary County voters also pulled the lever for Republicans, differing from statewide voters only in favoring Republican gubernatorial candidate Daniel Cameron (2,170 votes) over the Democratic incumbent, Governor Beshear (853 votes.)
With Republican candidates prevailing in all remaining state races, McCreary County totals were as follows: Secretary of State-(Adams, 2444/Wheatley), Attorney General-(Coleman, 2432/Stevenson, 497), Auditor of Public Accounts-(Ball, 2,471/Reeder, 452), State Treasurer-(Metcalf-2,402/Bowman, 501), and Commissioner of Agriculture-(Shell, 2,425/Enlow, 481.)
