Rev. William “Delmas” Watson

On January 20, 2024, at the age of 83, Rev. William “Delmas” Watson passed away at his home in Stearns, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on November 6, 1940, in Scott County, Tennessee. He leaves behind his loving wife, Phyllis Whitehead Watson whom he married on December 24, 1960. He was the son of the late Travis and Belle Roysden Watson. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother; Leland Watson and sister; Cleora Blevins. Along with his wife, Delmas is survived by their children; Lisa and husband Donald Wyatt of Stearns, Patty and husband Darold Nixon of Pine Knot, Kathy and Jerry Dobbs of Stearns and Dwayne and wife April Watson of Whitley City, grandchildren; D.J. Wyatt, Jonathon Wyatt, William Wyatt, JoJo Wyatt, Noah Wyatt, Karen and husband Daniel Vankirk, Jessica and husband Jamie Bryant, Ashley and husband Jared Burress, Derek Dobbs, Tyrone Dobbs, Cody Watson and companion Balie Bolinger, Isiah and wife Gracie Watson, Jason Jones and Lakelynn Jones, great-grandchildren: Kaylee Ball, Isaac Vankirk, Andrew Vankirk, Logan VanKirk, Savannah Bryant, Mason Bryant, Jaxon Bryant, Haley Bryant, Trevor Bryant, Addilyn Burress, Devan Dobbs, Stephanie Watson and Zara Bolinger, great-great-grandchild; Davian Dobbs, sisters; Cordelia Massengale of Butler, KY., Esther Perry of Alexandria KY., Nancy Privett of Revelo, KY., and Veda Blevins of TX., along with numerous nephews and nieces. He was a member of New Liberty United Baptist church, and an ordained minister.  He enjoyed reading his bible, attending church, hunting, fishing, and wood working but his favorite was spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. Visitation is January 24, 2024, Wednesday evening, beginning at 6:00 pm with Funeral service for Delmas on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 11:00 am in the chapel of the McCreary County Funeral Home, with Brothers Junior Bell, Mark Smith and Brandon Maxwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. McCreary County Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.
